Peru to England

July 4, 2017

Welcome to our June update, about what's going on in Arequipa, Tomepampa and now in England! Read on for more information and don't forget to visit our website and see our Facebook page for more regular updates!

I would like to start this newsletter by sharing the incredible news that after a lot of hard work, numerous document checks, paper work, visa applications, over 64 hours on bus rides, 15 hours on three airplanes and crossing the Atlantic, on 17 June 2017 our group from Tomepampa, Cotahuasi finally landed at London Gatwick Airport.

And now relax.

A huge and forever thank you to Pippa, Miss Pearce and all at The New Eccles Hall School, for their amazing hard work and fundraising, Eva and Ella (previous employees here at volunteers Peru), volunteers who taught the group English and assisted at Colegio Honofre Benavides and to everyone else who made this trip possible. More on what they got up to next time…!

In May we had Eduardo from Exchange do Bem, a Brazilian social entrepreneurship start up that connects between Brazilian volunteers and grassroots organisations. He spent one week with us visiting and learning about our two projects, getting to know the volunteers and eating Peruvian cuisine. For any Brazilian friends please check out their website

NEW VOLUNTEERS (and an intern)

These last couple of months we have had volunteers from all corners of the world… from Poland, England, Italy, Spain, Uruguay, USA, Germany and Australia! They have been working hard in La Casa Hogar Torre Fuerte and Colegio Honofre Benavides in Tomepampa. One of our volunteers Miryam taught all the girls how to croquette and now they are obsessed and pretty good, see our Facebook for more info and photos!

We also have a new intern Alondra, she will be working in the Volunteers Peru office with us for two months. Alondra is from California and is studying Philosophy and Sociology! She is currently working on translating our website so it will be more accessible for Spanish speakers!

We hope you have enjoyed reading our update. Of course if you or anyone you know would like to volunteer with us please click Learn More or email us!
