ABOUT US

Volunteers Peru is a small non for profit grass roots organization based in Arequipa, Peru. We work in collaboration with local organizations where our volunteers can make a positive contribution to the community and fulfill their personal and educational goals.

Help from volunteers is needed at four community projects:

1. Paz Peru, a non profit that focuses on the well being of the more disadvantaged members of the community with health clinics, schools, vocational programs, and nursing homes in Arequipa.

2. Casa Hogar, a home for at-risk girls in the city of Arequipa,

3. Honofre Benavides School in Tomepampa in Cotahuasi Canyon.

4. SERNANP a government environmental agency in the Cotahuasi region.

WELCOME TO PERU!
Although it is Peru’s second largest city, Arequipa has a small-town feel and people will be quick to make you feel welcome. Arequipeños are resolutely proud of their city – and they should be. Built from beautiful white ‘sillar’ stone, the whole historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and gives Arequipa its nickname, “The White City”. And with 300 days of sunshine a year, and an altitude of 2,328 metres, you can wake up to blue skies and a pleasant climate every day!
